Full Size LEGO Car Powered by LEGO Air Engine

Sooner or later someone had to do this. It was not easy to build a life size LEGO car using over 500,000 LEGO pieces and 40 sponsors to fund the so called ‘super awesome micro project’. The project was conceived by an Australian marketer and entrepreneur Steve Sammartino and a 20 years old self-taught technology genius Raul Oaida, both met online.

The car itself is powered by air form a 256 piston rotational engine. It will go up to 30km/h and theoretically faster but it has not been tested to its limits as replacing any parts deep inside the engine would be obviously problematic.  The wheels had to be standard road car wheels, and some suspension components had to be made out of non-LEGO materials to support the weight.

Build as a hot rod (‘because hot rods are cool’) in Romania it had then been shipped to Melbourne in secrecy. I was a world’s first, we hope not the last.
