LEGO Ideas Set 21313 – Ship in a Bottle

LEGO Ideas Set 21313 – Ship in a Bottle

Bottle made of bricks?!… How’s that possible?…With a ship inside??? I don’t believe that!

This LEGO 21313 Set is a true gem. It looks highly sophisticated thanks to the use of transparent shop window elements. This project is a LEGO Ideas submission by a fan designer Jacob Sadovich and LEGO designer Tiago Catarino. Bottle itself is a stunning idea which can be reused to display anything at all, not just ships. In this case the ship corresponds to the stand underneath the bottle. A beautiful implementation of brown bricks represents wood and includes a compass in the middle with two small ancient globes and some vintage signage plate with word Leviathan printed on it. This gives the whole scene that vintage looks of the real thing. .

The bottle itself is substantial size allowing the small ship inside to be detailed enough to resemble an authentic model. You can clearly see the sails with some sort of sea dragon design on each out of three masts. On the sides there are canons sticking out of port holes. There is a small front sail and a flag on the rudder side of the ship. There is a tiny quaterdeck too and the whole model is surrounded by clear light blue studs resembling water. This whole thing looks very authentic and would look great on any mantlepiece.

You can actually reuse this bottle to place other things inside, whatever fits there. It is a very creative display idea. This LEGO bottle can be presented standing upright for vertical models. This set contains almost a thousand pieces but as you can see half of them are used to represent the sea. Initially this set was proposed to LEGO Ideas website and quickly gathered momentum to be entered into production. It took just two months to get required ten thousand votes needed to have this idea considered by LEGO to become an official set.
